Board Members Wanted

SWWOP (Sheffield Working Women’s Opportunities Project) is a small but longstanding charity that supports women in Sheffield involved in street prostitution, through our outreach support van, and drop-ins and group work at our Wicker office. Where appropriate, we provide intensive support for those wishing to leave street prostitution. We are a registered charity managed by a Management Board who are also our trustees. Trustees play a very important role in making sure that the charity is run in the interests of the people it is there to support. They strategically oversee the management and administration of the organisation. To help us support the project we need people to join our Board, who have an empathy with our client group, and the desire to ensure that they receive the best possible service from our project.

Our existing Board members are enthusiastic, skilled, and committed, but there is always room for more! We are particularly keen to recruit ethnically diverse members of the community to our team. We are also interested in those who have one or more of the following areas of experience or expertise: mental health; substance abuse; policing; safeguarding; information technology; and business.

Board meetings are held every six weeks on Thursday evenings between 5.30 and 6.30pm (via Zoom throughout Covid). The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and policies of SWWOP and guides and supports the Project Manager and her staff. To find out more about joining the Board, please contact Sali by leaving a message on 07957 567937 or emailing [email protected] or Cathy by emailing [email protected]
